Schecter built the Stiletto Studio-5 FL as a fretless five-string electric bass positioned within the Stiletto Studio series. Manufactured in South Korea, it was constructed with a neck-through-body design featuring Ultra Access and strung with flatwound strings, reflecting an instrument oriented toward players pursuing the warm, gliding tones associated with fretless bass technique.
The body was carved from mahogany with a bubinga top and a flat top contour. The multi-ply maple and walnut neck carried a thin 'C' profile, measuring .787" at the first position and .866" at the twelfth, and was fretted with fretless lines on a rosewood fretboard with a 16" radius. The 35" scale ran to a Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut at 1.771" width. Hardware throughout was finished in satin gold and included a Diamond Custom Bass bridge and Schecter tuners. Electronics comprised a pair of EMG 40HZ pickups wired through an 18-volt active system with a master volume, blend control, and a three-band EMG active EQ, with metal knurled knobs secured by set screws. Strings fitted at the factory were Ernie Ball 5-String Flatwound #2810. The truss rod is a two-way adjustable unit adjusted with a 5/32" allen key.
