Schecter positioned the Omen-8 as an entry-level eight-string electric guitar within its Omen series, built for players requiring extended-range capability at an accessible point in the lineup. The instrument was constructed with a basswood body featuring an arched top and black single-ply binding, joined to a maple neck via bolt-on construction. Carbon fiber reinforcement rods were incorporated into the neck to resist the considerable tension of an eight-string configuration.
The Omen-8 carried a 26.5-inch (673mm) baritone scale length across a rosewood fretboard with a notably flat 16-inch (406mm) radius and 24 X-Jumbo frets — geometry suited to heavy playing styles and extended range chording. The Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut measured 2.125 inches (54mm) wide to accommodate the eight-string spacing. Hardware was finished in black chrome throughout, including the Schecter Custom Hardtail bridge with string-through-body stringing, Schecter tuners, and metal knurled knobs with set screws.
