Schecter built the Nick Johnston Traditional H/S/S as a signature instrument for the guitarist, positioning it within the Traditional series as a bolt-on, flat-top electric with an alder body, roasted maple neck, and ebony fretboard. It carried item number 1540 and was produced in Indonesia in an Atomic Green finish with chrome hardware.
The neck was carved to a Thin 'C' profile measuring .787" at the first fret and .866" at the twelfth, mated to a 14" radius ebony board fitted with 22 X-Jumbo frets and brass circle inlays. Nut duties fell to a Graph Tech XL Black Tusq unit at 1.653" (42mm) width, and the two-way adjustable truss rod was accessed at the heel via a spoke wheel. The 25.5" scale Diamond Vintage Tremolo bridge anchored the strings — Ernie Ball Regular Slinky .010–.046 from the factory — while Schecter Locking tuners held pitch at the headstock. The H/S/S pickup configuration comprised a Schecter Diamond '78 humbucker at the bridge and Schecter Diamond Nick Johnston Single Coil pickups in the middle and neck positions, selected via a 5-way switch. The control layout added a push-pull function to the tone knob, with vintage-style knobs throughout.
