Schecter built the SLS Elite-4 as a neck-through bass positioned toward the upper tier of their SLS (Solo II / Elite) line. Constructed with neck-thru-body architecture and an Ultra Access heel joint, the instrument pairs a swamp ash body with a flamed maple arched top and ivory 1-ply binding. The multi-ply maple, walnut, and padauk neck incorporates carbon fiber reinforcement rods for long-term stability, and terminates in an ebony fretboard with abalone offset/reverse dot inlays and matching abalone side dots.
The bass carries 24 X-jumbo stainless steel frets over a 34-inch scale and a 16-inch fretboard radius, with a Thin 'C' profile measuring .787 inches at the first fret and .866 inches at the twelfth. A Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut at 1.496 inches wide feeds into Grover Bass 144 Series tuners, all finished in black hardware. Tone shaping centers on paired Fishman Fluence Bass Soapbar pickups, with a control layout of master volume (push-pull for single-coil), blend, 2-band Fishman EQ, and a 3-way toggle voicing switch offering Classic, Funk, and Modern voices. The Schecter Custom Bass bridge accommodates both string-through-body and top-load stringing. Power comes from a 9-volt clip-in battery compartment. The bass shipped strung with Ernie Ball 4 String Super Long #2849 (.045–.105).
Owners requiring setup adjustments should note that the truss rod is a 2-way adjustable unit accessed via a heel spoke wheel. For setup, fretwork, or parts sourcing — particularly around the Fishman Fluence electronics or Graph Tech nut — consult a qualified guitar technician or luthier familiar with active bass systems.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
