Schecter positioned the Sun Valley Super Shredder FR S (item 1288) as a high-output shred-oriented instrument within its Sun Valley series, built on a bolt-on construction with a mahogany body and a maple neck finished to a flat-top contour. The guitar shipped in Riviera Blue with black hardware throughout.
The neck carries an ebony fretboard with 24 X-Jumbo frets, a 14" (355mm) radius, and a Thin 'C' profile measuring .787" (20mm) at the first fret and .866" (22mm) at the twelfth — a fast, low-profile feel suited to the extended-range demands the model was designed around. The 1.625" (41.3mm) nut width pairs with a Floyd Rose Special locking nut and a Schecter-exclusive Floyd Rose Special 'Hot Rod' locking tremolo at the bridge. Tuning stability is managed by Schecter tuners alongside a two-way adjustable truss rod with heel-access spoke wheel. The pickup configuration pairs an EMG Retro Active Hot 70 at the bridge with a Sustainiac® driver at the neck, governed by a volume/volume/3-way pickup switch layout augmented by a 2-way Sustainiac on-off switch and a 3-way Sustainiac mode switch (Fundamental, Mix, Harmonic). Power for the active electronics is supplied by a double 9-volt clip-in battery compartment. The instrument shipped strung with Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky .009–.046 strings, and the SGR-1C case was sold separately.
