Schecter positioned the Sun Valley Super Shredder FR S (Item 1284, in Gloss White) as a high-specification bolt-on shred instrument within its Sun Valley Super Shredder line. Built in South Korea with a mahogany body and a maple neck joined via bolt-on construction, it carried a flat-top body profile and was offered in right-handed configuration only.
The neck runs a Thin 'C' profile with a 25.5" (648mm) scale and a 14" (355mm) radius rosewood fretboard dressed with 24 X-Jumbo frets and offset/reverse dot inlays. Nut width measures 1.625" (41.3mm), filled by a Floyd Rose Special locking nut. Tuning stability is managed by Schecter tuners feeding into a Floyd Rose Special 'Hot Rod' Locking Tremolo — a Schecter-exclusive variant — finished in black hardware throughout. The truss rod is a two-way adjustable unit accessible at the heel via a spoke wheel. Neck thickness measures .787" (20mm) at the first fret and .866" (22mm) at the twelfth. Pickups pair an EMG Retro Active Hot 70 at the bridge with a Sustainiac® driver at the neck; controls run to two volume knobs, a 3-way pickup selector, a 2-way Sustainiac on/off switch, and a 3-way Sustainiac mode switch (Fundamental, Mix, Harmonic). The active electronics are powered by a double 9-volt clip-in battery compartment. Knobs are metal knurled with set screws. Strings from the factory were Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky #2222 (.009–.046). The SGR-1C case was sold separately.
Owners requiring bridge block replacement, locking nut parts, or Sustainiac service should consult a qualified guitar technician familiar with Floyd Rose-system instruments and active pickup installations.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
