Hagstrom built the Swede F as a chambered variant of the solid-body Swede, positioning it as a distinct voice within the Swede family. The single-cutaway body was heavily chambered and fitted with a classic f-hole, a configuration Hagstrom described as introducing an organic tonal character that differed from the solid-body model. The chambering also reduced overall body weight.
The Swede F carried a mahogany top on that chambered body and was strung with D'Addario EXP 110 (10–46) strings over a 24.75" (628 mm) scale. The neck, joined by a set joint, was made from Resinator™ and fitted with Hagstrom's H-Expander™ truss rod, a 43 mm GraphTech Black Tusq XL nut, a 15" radius, pearl block inlays, and 22 medium-jumbo frets. Two Hagstrom Custom 58 AlNiCo pickups fed into a 3-way toggle selector, with the control layout comprising two volume controls, two tone controls, and a separate 3-way Sound Filter toggle switch. The bridge was a long-travel Tune-O-Matic with a Hagstrom stop tailpiece and single brass string blocks, and tuning was handled by Hagstrom Design 18:1 machine heads. The Wild Cherry Transparent finish is reflected in the SKU.
Owners sourcing replacement parts — particularly nuts, bridge saddles, or pickups — should verify measurements against the original components before fitting; a qualified luthier or guitar technician can confirm compatibility and carry out any setup work on the chambered body.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
