Hagstrom produced the Swede 2020 as part of its modernised Swede line, positioning the SWE20-DSM-U as a single-cutaway electric guitar built around a mahogany and carved maple construction with a set neck — a configuration that placed it firmly in the company's higher-specification tier.
The body combined a two-piece African mahogany core with a three-quarter-inch carved maple top. The African mahogany set neck carried Hagstrom's H-Expander truss rod and joined a Resinator fingerboard with a 15-inch radius, pearl block inlays, and 22 medium-jumbo frets across a 24.75-inch scale. Nut duties fell to a 43 mm Graph Tech Black Tusq XL. The pickup complement consisted of Lundgren-designed AlNiCo II units, selected via a 3-way toggle switch; a separate 3-way sound filter toggle switch supplemented the standard two-volume, two-tone control layout. Hardware included a long-travel tune-o-matic bridge with Hagstrom stop tailpiece and single brass string blocks, with Graph Tech Ratio tuning machines at the headstock.
Owners seeking replacement parts — particularly compatible tune-o-matic saddles, Graph Tech Ratio tuner buttons, or Resinator fingerboard care products — should consult a qualified guitar technician or luthier familiar with Hagstrom specifications to confirm it fits before sourcing components.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
