Hagstrom built the Fantomen as a collaboration between its design team and the Swedish band Ghost. The model carried the name Fantomen — Swedish for The Phantom — and positioned itself as a left-handed variant of a guitar designed to extend Hagstrom's heritage of playability into a more aggressive aesthetic. It sat within the marque's set-neck electric line and was offered in a White Gloss finish.
The body was constructed from solid mahogany, joined to a mahogany neck via a mortise-and-tenon set-neck joint. The neck carried Hagstrom's H-Expander™ truss rod and a Resinator™ fingerboard with a 15" radius, 22 medium-jumbo frets, Hagstrom Pearl Block inlays, and a 43 mm Graph Tech™ Black Tusq XL nut across a 25.5" / 648 mm scale. Pickup duties fell to a Lundgren Design AlNiCo-2 No. 2 humbucker at the neck and a Lundgren Design AlNiCo-5 No. 5 humbucker at the bridge, selected via a 3-way toggle switch. The control layout provided two volume controls with R/C circuits and two tone controls with push-pull coil splits. The Long Travel Tune-O-Matic bridge and Hagstrom 18:1 die-cast tuning keys completed the hardware complement. The body featured multiply binding and the asymmetrical single-cutaway style shared with the broader Fantomen line. Strings were fitted from the factory as D'Addario 10–46.
Owners sourcing replacement parts — including compatible nuts, bridge saddles, tuning machines, or pickup rings — should consult the specifications above and work with a qualified guitar technician to confirm it fits before purchase.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
