DigiTech produced the Obscura Altered Delay (model OBSCURA-U) as a compact effects pedal offering four distinct delay types — Analog, Tape, Lo-Fi, and Reverse — designed for heavily manipulated, degraded repeat textures rather than transparent echo reproduction.
The unit provided stacked Time and Repeats controls alongside independent Level, Delay Mode, Tone, and Degrade knobs, allowing the character of each repeat to be darkened, degraded, or distorted in real time. A Repeat/Hold feature extended this into sustained, evolving repeats. Tap Tempo with Beat Divisions was included, as were stereo quarter-inch unbalanced inputs and outputs. The Delay Tails On/Off toggle switch governed whether repeats continued to decay after bypass, and the circuit itself employed true hardwire bypass when the effect was disengaged. A vacuum-style soft-click footswitch completed the control set. The pedal required an external 9 VDC power supply; no battery operation is indicated in the source material.
Owners sourcing a replacement power supply should note the compatible model numbers listed in the original specification sheet and confirm output rating before substituting a third-party unit. For any internal servicing, calibration, or footswitch repairs, a qualified guitar technician or electronics service professional familiar with compact effects units is the appropriate resource.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
