Cort built the X100-OPBB as the entry-level model of the X Series electric guitar line, positioning it to share the playability profile of the higher-end X Series guitars while sitting at the base of the range. The Open Pore Black Burst finish was one of three open pore finishes offered on this model.
The X100-OPBB was constructed with a bolt-on hard rock Maple neck joined to a Meranti body, with a Jatoba fingerboard running a 400 mm (15.75") radius across 24 frets over a 648 mm (25.5") scale length. Two Powersound humbuckers fed into a circuit controlled by a single volume control, a single tone control, and a 3-way selector switch. A 6-point tremolo system handled pitch articulation, and all hardware was finished in black, including die-cast tuners.
