Cort built the KX300-OPRB as part of the KX Series, positioning it at what the brand described as a boutique level within that line. The guitar featured a mahogany body with a spalted maple top, finished in an open pore raw burst — a finish treatment that leaves the wood grain exposed rather than filled and polished.
The bolt-on hard maple neck carries a jatoba fretboard with a 400mm (15.75") radius across 24 frets, at a 648mm (25.5") scale length. Pickups are an EMG® RetroActive Super 77 set — dual humbuckers in the classic open-coil zebra configuration. Controls run to a single volume, a single tone, and a three-way toggle switch. The bridge is a hardtail with string-through-body stringing. All hardware is finished in black nickel, and the guitar shipped strung with D'Addario® YB EXL110s. White binding and die-cast tuners complete the specification.
Owners requiring setup work, fret service, or help sourcing compatible parts — such as a direct-mount replacement for the EMG® RetroActive Super 77 set or a string-through hardtail bridge in black nickel — should consult a qualified guitar technician.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
