Cort positioned the KX300-OPCB at the upper end of the KX Series, pairing a spalted maple top on a mahogany body with a bolt-on hard maple neck and a jatoba fretboard. The Open Pore Cobalt Burst finish was offered as one of two open pore sunburst options in the line.
The guitar carried a 648 mm (25.5") scale length across 24 frets, with a 400 mm (15.75") fretboard radius and white binding. Hardware was finished in black nickel throughout, anchored by a hardtail bridge with string-through-body stringing and die-cast tuners. Pickups were an EMG Retroactive Super 77 set — dual humbuckers in the classic zebra open-coil format — controlled by a three-way toggle switch with one volume and one tone control. Strings were fitted from the factory as D'Addario YB EXL110.
