Cort built the KX300-EBR as part of the KX Series, positioning it as a high-output electric guitar finished in a matte black with red and gold paint applied selectively to the grain of the ash top. The etched finish treatment was designed to expose the wood's natural texture while adding visual contrast.
The guitar was constructed with a bolt-on neck joint, pairing a mahogany body with a sand-blasted ash top. The Canadian hard maple neck carried a pau ferro fretboard with 24 frets, a 15.75" (400mm) radius, and a 25.5" (648mm) scale length. A hardtail bridge with string-through-body stringing anchored the setup. EMG® RetroActive Super77 humbuckers — finished to match the instrument's hardware — drove the signal chain through a straightforward control layout: one volume, one tone, and a three-way pickup selector. All hardware was finished in black nickel, including the die-cast tuners.
