Description

Cort built the GOLD-A8-NAT as part of its Gold Series, a range centred on the Aged to Vintage (ATV) treatment applied to the solid spruce top. Within that line the GOLD-A8 occupied a position defined by master-grade tonewoods and elevated hardware appointments, targeted at players demanding a fully solid-wood auditorium-body instrument with onboard electronics.

The top is a torrefied solid Sitka spruce graded at Master Grade, processed through the ATV torrefaction method to accelerate the curing and opening of the wood over time. Back and sides are solid Pau Ferro. The mahogany neck — constructed from Palaquium and reinforced internally — joins the body via Cort's DoubleLock Neck Joint and carries an ebony fretboard with 20 frets, a 45mm nut, and a 643mm (25.3") scale length. Gold Custom MOP inlays and Deluxe Vintage Gold tuners reflect the series' aesthetic. The ebony bridge is fitted with ebony pins, and the abalone rosette and white binding with triple-ply purfling complete the visual treatment. Bracing is hand-scalloped X-Bracing. Electronics are handled by a Fishman Flex Blend system, which includes a built-in tuner. The instrument ships strung with D'Addario EXP16 Light strings and includes a deluxe soft-side case. The finish is described as a sonically enhanced UV finish in Natural Glossy.

Owners requiring setup work, fret maintenance, or guidance on compatible ebony-pin bridge replacements, Fishman Flex Blend service, or nut substitutions should consult a qualified luthier or guitar technician familiar with solid-wood acoustic instruments.

The owner archive

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
