Description

Ampeg positioned the MICRO-CL-U as a compact, solid-state bass amplifier head delivering 100 watts, aimed at bassists seeking classic Ampeg tone in a smaller, more portable format — whether for practice or use in locations where a full stack was impractical.

The head ran a solid-state preamp and power amp section, producing 100 watts at 8 ohms. Tone shaping was handled by a three-band EQ covering bass, mid, and treble. Connectivity included dual inputs at 0 dB and −15 dB, an unbalanced line out, an effects loop, and a combined 1/8" headphone out and line in jack. The MICRO-CL-U measured 24 × 13 × 11 inches and had a handling weight of 33.2 lbs. Cabinet specifications list two 10" LF drivers with 100 watts power handling at 8 ohms, a frequency response of 57 Hz – 5 kHz, and sensitivity of 100 dB SPL at 1 watt/1 metre.

Owners sourcing replacement drivers, input jacks, or other components should verify part compatibility against the unit's wiring and impedance ratings; a qualified guitar or bass technician can assist with component identification and service.

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
