The base plate is the foundation the rest of your Floyd Rose Special tremolo bolts to — saddles, sustain block, fine tuners, tension plates and locking hardware all mount here. When a Floyd Rose Special stops returning to pitch and no amount of spring adjustment or nut-lock tightening fixes it, the knife edges on the base plate are usually the reason. They wear down over years of use and once they go, they cannot be resharpened back into service. This plate is the correct hardened steel replacement for the Special series.

Fit is not flexible here. This plate is cut for the Floyd Rose Special series. The knife edges, saddle geometry and mounting points are specific to that system. A block, saddle set or string-lock hardware from another series will not line up correctly with this plate, and this plate will not drop into a route cut for a different series without modification. Check your existing tremolo: if it does not say Special series, this is not your part. String count has to match as well — do not assume six-string hardware crosses over to seven.

The plate is hardened steel with an antique bronze finish. Hardened steel at the knife edges matters because softer material rounds over faster under the loading of the springs and the rocking motion of the tremolo arm. The antique bronze finish matches the Special series hardware in that colour.
