These are the claw springs that sit in the cavity behind a Floyd Rose 1000 Series tremolo, pulling the block back against string tension to keep the bridge floating. When springs weaken or lose tension at different rates, the bridge stops returning to the same point after a dive or pull-up. Swapping the spring set is often the fix before any other adjustment is touched. This is a set of three coiled steel springs, part number FR1TS, made for the 1000 Series.
Spring count and spring tension have to balance against your string gauge and tuning. Heavier strings or a lower tuning demand more pull from the springs — if the set is under-tensioned, the bridge tilts forward; if it is over-tensioned, the plate sits down on the body and the system stops floating. More critically, replace all three at once. A single tired spring in a set of two good ones creates uneven pull across the block, which is one of the most common causes of a bridge that will not settle back to pitch. One spring at a time is not a fix.
The springs are coiled steel. Steel springs take a set over time, particularly if the guitar has sat in an extreme temperature or the claw has been run at maximum compression for years. If you are chasing a bridge that drifts between sessions rather than between bends, the springs are the first thing to rule out.
If you are not certain this set suits your specific guitar and setup, send us the make, model and year and we will confirm the fit before you order.
