The FR1NR2SG is a hardened steel locking nut in a satin gold finish, sized R2, for Floyd Rose 1000 Series tremolo systems. Its job is to clamp the strings at the headstock end so tuning changes at the bridge stay isolated from the machine heads. Without a functioning locking nut, a floating tremolo cannot hold pitch across any significant dive or pull.

Fit is decided by two things: the width of your nut slot and the radius of your fretboard. Floyd Rose designates nut widths by letter — R2, R3, R4 and so on — and they are not interchangeable. Get the radius wrong and the outer strings will either sit proud of the nut face and buzz, or crowd the fretboard edge under string pressure. Do not order by guitar model. Measure the nut slot width on your existing guitar and confirm the fretboard radius before you buy.

The nut body is hardened steel. On worn or corroded examples from earlier 1000 Series instruments, the clamping face typically scores before the string blocks strip — if the blocks are still good, this nut body is the right replacement to go after first.
