The locking nut clamps the strings at the headstock end of the neck, removing them from the tuning pegs' control once the fine-tuners take over. When the original cracks, strips its clamping screws or corrodes past saving, this hardened steel unit is the direct replacement for Floyd Rose 1000 Series systems. The satin chrome finish cuts glare under stage lights without the upkeep of polished chrome.

Fit is decided by two measurements working together: the width of the nut slot in your neck and the radius of your fretboard. Floyd Rose grades its nuts by width — R2, R3, R4 and so on — and this is the R3. If you fit the wrong width, strings crowd the fretboard edge or leave too much gap. If the radius is wrong, the outer strings will sit proud of the clamping block and buzz no matter how tight you run the clamp screws. Do not go by guitar model alone. Measure the nut slot width on your existing nut before ordering.

The nut body is hardened steel. That matters because softer alloys deform at the string channels over time, which is usually what causes the tuning instability that sends players hunting for a replacement in the first place.
