The string retainer bar sits between the locking nut and the headstock tuners. Its job is to hold the strings down onto the nut at the correct angle so the locking blocks grip cleanly and the strings stay seated under a full dive or pull-up. Without enough break angle, strings can lift out of the nut mid-bend. This is the Floyd Rose 1000 Series replacement unit, finished in black, and it ships with its mounting screws.
Fit is not universal across Floyd Rose systems. The retainer controls the downward break angle over the locking nut — too little and you lose string grip, too much and you stress the strings at the nut edge. Beyond that, mounting hole spacing is specific to the 1000 Series. If you are replacing a retainer on a different Floyd Rose series, the screw holes will not line up. Confirm you are running a 1000 Series system before ordering. If the guitar came with a Floyd Rose but you are not certain which series it carries, measure the hole spacing on the existing retainer and send us the make, model and year.
The retainer is steel with a black finish. If your original has worn through its finish or the threads are stripped where the screws anchor into the headstock block, this is a direct swap — same material, same finish, same series spec.
