The FR1NR3B is a hardened steel locking nut in black finish, part of the Floyd Rose 1000 Series. Its job is to clamp the strings at the headstock end so that tuning changes made at the bridge stay put — once the clamping blocks are tightened, string movement between nut and tuners is taken out of the equation entirely. This is a direct replacement part for 1000 Series tremolo systems.

Fit is decided by two measurements, not by guitar model. The nut has to match the width of your existing nut slot, and it has to match your fretboard radius. Floyd Rose sizes its nuts by width designation — R2, R3, R4 and so on. The FR1NR3B is an R3. If your current nut is a different size, this one will not fit correctly: too flat a radius and the outer strings will sit proud of the nut surface and buzz; too narrow and the strings will crowd toward the fretboard edge. Measure the nut that is coming out before you order, and confirm the radius matches. Do not go by the guitar model — the same model has shipped with different nut sizes across production runs.
