The FR1NR2B is a hardened steel locking nut in black, part of Floyd Rose's 1000 Series. It replaces the nut at the headstock end of the neck where the strings are clamped before a dive or pull — once locked, the string length between nut and bridge saddle is fixed, which is what lets the system return to pitch after heavy arm use. If this nut is stripped, cracked, or missing its clamping blocks, fine-tuning at the nut becomes impossible and the whole system is compromised.

Fit is decided by two measurements: the width of the nut slot in your neck, and the radius of your fretboard. Floyd Rose sizes its nuts by a letter code — R2, R3, R4 and so on — and this is an R2. Getting the radius wrong means the outer strings will sit proud of the nut surface or be choked into it, producing buzz or uneven clamping pressure that no amount of adjustment will fix. Do not order from the guitar model name. Pull the existing nut and measure the slot width and fretboard radius before ordering.

The nut is machined from hardened steel and finished in black. Hardened steel resists the deformation that softer alloys develop over years of clamping pressure — a soft nut will eventually fail to hold string tension consistently even when the clamping screws are fully torqued.
