Ibanez produced the AS73TCD as part of the AS Series, positioning it as a hollow body electric guitar within the Artcore line. The model carried a Transparent Cherry Red finish, placing it in the colour-distinguished tier of the AS73 family.
Construction centred on a Linden top, back, and sides, with a set-in Nyatoh neck of the AS Artcore profile. The bound Walnut fretboard ran 22 medium frets over a 628mm (24.7") scale, with a 305mm radius and acrylic block inlays. Nut width measured 43mm. The hardware package was finished in chrome throughout, pairing a Gibraltar Performer bridge at 10.5mm string spacing with a Quik Change III tailpiece. Two passive, ceramic Classic Elite humbucker pickups — one at the neck, one at the bridge — handled the signal chain. The guitar left the factory strung to standard tuning with a .010–.052 gauge set.
