Ibanez built the AS53TKF as part of the AS Series, positioning it as a hollow body electric within the Artcore line. The model carried a Transparent Black Flat finish and was fitted with an AS Artcore set-in neck profile constructed from Nyatoh.
The body featured Sapele for the top, back, and sides. The neck joined a bound Walnut fretboard with white dot inlays, 22 medium frets, a 43mm nut width, and a 305mm radius. Scale length measured 628mm (24.7"). Hardware ran in chrome throughout, with a Gibraltar Performer bridge set at 10.5mm string spacing, a Quik Change III tailpiece, and a matched pair of passive ceramic Infinity R humbucker pickups at neck and bridge positions. The guitar left the factory strung with a .010–.052 set in standard tuning.
Owners sourcing replacement parts — including bridge saddles compatible with the Gibraltar Performer, Quik Change III tailpiece components, or Infinity R pickup substitutes — should reference the measurements above when cross-shopping hardware. A qualified guitar technician or luthier can assist with setup, nut replacement, and hardware fitting using the neck dimensions documented here.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
