Ibanez built the RGIXL7BKF as part of the RG Iron Label series, a line positioned for high-output, performance-oriented playing without the aesthetic embellishments of the standard RG range. The seven-string configuration and extended 27-inch scale placed it toward the heavier end of the Iron Label offering.
The guitar was constructed with a Nyatoh body and a three-piece Maple/Purpleheart Nitro Wizard-7 XL neck — a profile associated with Ibanez's thinner, faster-playing geometry. The Ebony fretboard carries 24 jumbo frets over a 400mm radius, with a nut width of 48mm tapering to 68mm at the 24th fret. Neck thickness measures 19mm at the first fret and 21mm at the twelfth. Hardware is finished in black throughout, anchored by a Gibraltar Standard II-7 bridge set at 10.8mm string spacing. Pickups are a matched pair of DiMarzio Fusion Edge 7 passive ceramic humbuckers at neck and bridge. The guitar left the factory strung with D'Addario EXL110-7s (.010–.059) and tuned to A1–D2–A2–D3–G3–C4–F4–A4–D5 from low to high.
Owners seeking replacement parts — including bridge saddles compatible with the Gibraltar Standard II-7, or direct-mount DiMarzio Fusion Edge 7 pickup covers — should consult a qualified guitar technician or luthier, who can also advise on setup adjustments specific to the 27-inch scale length and factory drop tuning.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
