Ibanez built the RGIB21BK as part of the RG Iron Label series, positioning it as a dedicated baritone instrument within the broader RG platform. The Iron Label line was developed around stripped-back, performance-focused specifications, and the RGIB21BK carried that ethos into extended-range territory with a 712 mm (28") scale length and factory tuning of B–F#–D–A–E–B.
The guitar was constructed with a Nyatoh body and a three-piece Maple/Purpleheart neck designated as the Nitro Baritone profile. The Jatoba fretboard carries 24 jumbo frets over a 400 mm radius, with off-set white dot inlays. Nut width measures 45 mm, widening to 58 mm at the 24th fret; neck thickness runs 20 mm at the first fret and 23 mm at the 12th. The Gibraltar Standard II bridge is set to a 10.8 mm string spacing. Electronics consist of an active EMG 60 ceramic humbucker at the neck and an active EMG 81 ceramic humbucker at the bridge. All hardware is finished in black. The instrument left the factory strung with D'Addario EXL157s (.014–.068).
Owners sourcing replacement parts should note that the Gibraltar Standard II bridge accepts components dimensioned to that platform, and the active EMG pickups require the 9 V battery routing associated with that system. For setup, intonation, or hardware work, a qualified guitar technician familiar with baritone instruments will be best placed to advise on the extended scale requirements.
