Ibanez built the RGA42FMLBLF as part of the RGA Series, a line designed around a fixed-bridge configuration and extended upper-fret access. The model sat in the mid-tier of the RGA family, pairing a flamed maple top with a Meranti body and a Wizard III maple neck — a profile Ibanez developed for players prioritising speed and low action across the full 24-fret range.
The Jatoba fretboard carries off-set white dot inlays and 24 jumbo frets over a 400mm radius, with a nut width of 43mm tapering out to 58mm at the 24th fret. Neck thickness measures 19mm at the first fret and 21mm at the 12th. The 648mm (25.5") scale feeds into an F106 fixed bridge set at 10.5mm string spacing. Pickup duties are handled by a pair of passive, ceramic-magnet Quantum humbuckers — one at the neck, one at the bridge — with all hardware finished in black. The guitar left the factory strung with D'Addario EXL110s (.010–.046) in standard E tuning.
Owners sourcing a replacement F106 bridge, Quantum-series pickup, or Jatoba fretboard components should verify part dimensions against the string spacing and scale figures listed above before ordering. A qualified guitar technician can confirm compatibility and carry out any setup or replacement work.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
