Ibanez positioned the SRH505FNNF within the SR Workshop Series as a fretless five-string electric bass built around a piezo pickup system. The Workshop Series represented Ibanez's focus on non-traditional tonewoods and construction approaches within the SR family, and the SRH505F sat at the semi-hollow end of that range, pairing a spruce top with an okoume body to support the acoustic-leaning character of the AeroSilk Piezo system.
The neck is a five-piece Jatoba/Walnut construction, designated SRH5, joining a bound Panga Panga fretboard with off-set white dot inlays. The fretboard is fretless. The nut width measures 45mm, widening to 68mm at the 24th fret position, with a 305mm radius and a 864mm/34" scale length. String spacing at the bridge is 16.5mm. The AeroSilk Piezo system is paired with a custom bridge designed specifically for it, and tone shaping is handled by a piezo active tone control. All hardware is finished in black. The instrument left the factory strung with D'Addario ECB81-5 Flatwound strings gauged .045/.065/.080/.100/.132 in standard five-string tuning B–E–A–D–G.
Owners requiring setup work, fretless fingerboard maintenance, or assistance sourcing a compatible replacement bridge for the AeroSilk Piezo system should consult a qualified guitar technician or luthier experienced with piezo-equipped instruments.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
