Ibanez built the SR1600BTSF as part of the SR Premium Series, positioning it toward the upper tier of the SR bass line. The model carried a Poplar Burl top over an African Mahogany body, paired with a five-piece Atlas-4 Panga Panga/Purpleheart neck reinforced with KTS Titanium rods — a construction choice that prioritised stability and tonal stiffness across the neck shaft.
The bound Panga Panga fretboard runs 24 medium frets with abalone oval inlays and a 305mm radius, finishing at a Graph Tech BLACK TUSQ XL nut measuring 38mm at the nut and 62mm at the 24th fret. Nordstrand Big Single pickups occupy both the neck and bridge positions in a passive configuration, fed into Ibanez Custom Electronics three-band EQ with an EQ bypass switch — the treble pot doubling as a passive tone control when bypassed — and a three-way mid-frequency switch for on-board voicing adjustment. The MR5S bridge is set at 19mm string spacing. All hardware is finished in black. The instrument shipped strung with D'Addario EXL165 strings (.045/.065/.085/.105) at standard E–A–D–G factory tuning across a 34-inch scale.
Owners sourcing replacement parts should note the 19mm string spacing at the bridge and the Graph Tech BLACK TUSQ XL nut specification when seeking compatible components. For setup adjustments, intonation work, or fret maintenance, a qualified guitar technician will be best placed to advise on tolerances specific to this neck profile and fretboard radius.

What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
