Ibanez produced the GVB36AM as part of the GVB Signature Series, positioning it as a six-string electric bass within that dedicated signature line. The amber finish is indicated by the AM suffix in the model designation.
The GVB36AM was built on an alder body with a flamed maple top and a three-piece maple neck. The jatoba fretboard carries abalone oval inlays and medium frets, with a 305mm radius and a 34-inch scale. Neck dimensions run 54mm at the nut and 72.5mm at the 24th fret, with thickness measuring 19.5mm at the first fret and 21.5mm at the 12th. Electronics consist of a pair of passive Bartolini MK-1 pickups routed through an EQB-IIISP three-band EQ with a mid-frequency selector on a push/pull pot. Hardware throughout is finished in cosmo black, including the MR4 bridge, which is set to a 14mm string spacing. The instrument ships strung with a six-string set gauged .032/.040/.060/.080/.100/.125.
Owners sourcing replacement parts — particularly bridge saddles, nut blanks cut to the 54mm width, or Bartolini MK-1 compatible electronics — should consult a qualified guitar or bass technician to confirm fit against the instrument's actual measurements before installation.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
