Description

Ibanez built the EHB1505PLF as part of the EHB Workshop Series, a line of ergonomic headless electric basses. The five-string configuration and passive Nordstrand pickup complement position this instrument toward players seeking an active/passive hybrid instrument with premium appointments.

The bass features a Poplar Burl top over a selected lightweight African Mahogany body, with a nine-piece Pangapanga/Walnut neck reinforced with graphite rods — a construction method intended to resist seasonal movement. The bound Panga Panga fretboard carries abalone off-set dot inlays and 24 medium stainless steel frets across a 500mm radius. String spacing at the MR5HS bridge is 18mm, and the 864mm/34" scale runs to a 45mm nut width. Electronics consist of a pair of Nordstrand Custom Big Split pickups running in passive mode, paired with a Vari-mid 3-band EQ featuring an EQ bypass switch; the treble pot doubles as a passive tone control when the EQ is bypassed. Hardware throughout is finished in black. The instrument shipped strung with D'Addario EXL165 plus a .130 B-string at gauges .045/.065/.085/.105/.130 in standard five-string tuning B–E–A–D–G.

Owners sourcing replacement stainless frets, Nordstrand Big Split pickups, or headless bridge saddles compatible with 18mm spacing should bring the instrument to a qualified luthier or bass technician who can verify fit against the original hardware before any parts are ordered.

The owner archive

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
