Ibanez built the EHB1505MSPLF as part of the EHB Workshop Series, a multi-scale headless bass line positioned toward players seeking ergonomic design and extended tonal range. The five-string configuration and dual-scale construction placed it toward the upper tier of the Workshop Series offering.
The instrument was constructed with a Poplar Burl top over a selected lightweight African Mahogany body. The nine-piece Pangapanga/Walnut neck, reinforced with graphite rods, carried a bound Panga Panga fretboard with abalone offset dot inlays across 24 medium stainless steel frets. String spacing at the MR5HS bridge was set at 18mm, with a dual scale length running 889mm to 838mm. Nordstrand Custom Big Split pickups in both neck and bridge positions operated passively, feeding into a Vari-mid 3-band EQ with an EQ bypass switch; the treble pot retained a passive tone control function when bypassed. Hardware throughout was finished in black. Nut width measured 45mm, fretboard width at the 24th fret measured 74mm, neck thickness ran 19.5mm at the first fret and 21.5mm at the twelfth, and the fretboard radius was 500mmR. The instrument shipped strung with D'Addario EXL170-5SL strings gauged .045/.065/.080/.100/.130 in B–E–A–D–G factory tuning.
