Ibanez built the AGB200NT as part of the AGB Series, a line of short-scale electric basses designed around a semi-hollow or fully hollow body format suited to players seeking a warmer, more resonant character from an electric bass. The Natural finish variant carried the designation NT in the model number.
The bass was constructed with a three-piece Nyatoh and Maple set-in neck of the AGB4 profile, joined to a Linden body. The bound Walnut fretboard featured white dot inlays and ran to 22 medium frets over a 770mm (30.3") short scale. Nut width measured 42mm, widening to 61mm at the 22nd fret, with a neck thickness of 21.5mm at the first fret and 24mm at the ninth, over a 400mm radius. Pickup duties were handled by a pair of passive Classic Elite Bass pickups — one at the neck, one at the bridge — with chrome hardware throughout. The Gibraltar III Bass bridge set string spacing at 19mm, and string changes were facilitated by the Quik Change III Bass tailpiece. The instrument left the factory strung with gauges .050/.070/.085/.105 in standard E-A-D-G tuning.
