Washburn positioned the WD250SWCE within the Timber Ridge Series as a cutaway dreadnought acoustic-electric, combining a solid tonewoods construction with onboard electronics for amplified use. The model carried the dreadnought cutaway body shape, offering the full-bodied projection associated with that format alongside upper-fret access.
The top was solid Sitka Spruce, braced with quarter-sawn scalloped Sitka Spruce bracing. Back and sides were both solid Rosewood. The satin Mahogany neck housed a two-way truss rod and carried a Rosewood fretboard dressed with offset dot inlays. Nut material was bone, cut to a 43mm width. The bridge was Rosewood, and tuning machines were chrome diecast. The rosette was abalone. Electronics were handled by a Fishman Presys+ Blend preamp system. The guitar was strung from the factory with D'Addario EXP-16 light phosphor bronze strings.
