Ibanez introduced the OD850 overdrive pedal as a limited reissue of a design first brought to market in the mid-1970s. The unit occupied a historically significant place in the Ibanez effects line, drawing on the company's long-standing involvement in guitar effects manufacturing.
The OD850 operates on 100% analog circuitry with true bypass switching. Three controls — Sustain, Balance, and Tone — govern the pedal's overdrive character. Construction took place in Japan. Power is supplied by one 9-volt battery (006P) or an external AC adapter accepting DC 9V with a negative centre pin.
