- Washburn 1985 HM Katana
Washburn built the PXV26FRCK-D-U as part of the Parallaxe Series, positioning it as a high-output electric guitar optimised for heavily saturated playing styles. The offset V-shaped body features chamfered edges, and the headstock drew its design inspiration from the Washburn 1985 HM Katana.
The mahogany body is paired with a glued-in hard maple neck and an ebony fretboard running 24 frets, with a Parallaxe inlay at the 12th fret. The 25.5" scale and 43mm graphite nut set the playing geometry. A Floyd Rose Original locking tremolo with a nickel-plated brass 34mm block handles pitch shifting duties, while Grover 18:1 tuners manage pitch at the headstock. The guitar is strung with a Buzz Feiten Tuning System to support intonation across all positions. Seymour Duncan USA-made pickups occupy both positions — a 59 in the neck and a Custom-5 in the bridge — selected via a 3-way switch. The single volume and single tone controls include a coil-split function that transitions the humbuckers to single-coil operation. All hardware is finished in black. The guitar shipped with a custom-formed gig bag.
Owners requiring setup work, Floyd Rose servicing, or fretwork should consult a qualified guitar technician familiar with double-locking tremolo systems.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
