Washburn built the PXS29FRTBBM-D-U as part of the Parallaxe Series, positioning it at the demanding end of the rock and metal segment. The line was conceived around the requirements of technically intensive players and was designed to eliminate the need for aftermarket modification.
The guitar is constructed with a mahogany body and a maple neck, with an ebony fretboard spanning 29 frets. The 25-1/2" scale runs to a 43 mm locking nut. Inlays are small dots with a Parallaxe inlay at the 12th fret. The pickup complement pairs a Duncan USA STK S4N in the neck position with a Duncan USA TB6 at the bridge, in an S/H configuration; each pickup is governed by its own push/pull coil-split on the volume and tone controls, with a 3-way toggle selector for overall pickup routing. Hardware throughout is black chrome, including Grover Exclusive 18:1 tuners. The bridge is a Floyd Rose unit with a nickel-plated brass 34 mm block. The instrument shipped strung with D'Addario EXL 120 light-gauge strings. The finish is a Flame Trans Black matte.
