Washburn built the PXS160B as part of its Parallaxe Series, positioning it as a high-output, fast-playing double-cut solid body electric aimed at players who prioritise aggressive tone and technical performance. The asymmetrical double-cutaway body and katana-inspired headstock were the defining visual signatures of the line.
The guitar paired a basswood body with a hard rock maple neck and a 24-fret Ovangkol fingerboard running a full 25.5-inch scale — the two-octave reach and longer scale contributing to the tight, articulate note-to-note response the design targeted. Electronics consisted of a Duncan Designed HB-101 at the neck and a Duncan Designed Distortion HB-103 at the bridge, selected via a 3-way switch and governed by a single volume and a single push/pull tone control that doubles as a coil-split. Hardware throughout was finished in black and included diecast tuners and a fixed six-saddle hard-tail bridge with string-through-body routing, the latter added to increase sustain. Dot inlays marked the fingerboard, with a Parallaxe-specific inlay appearing at the 12th fret. The instrument shipped strung with D'Addario strings.
