Washburn built the N4ESANM-D-U as part of the N Series, a line of signature electric guitars developed in collaboration with Nuno Bettencourt. Bettencourt applied his playing experience to the design of the neck, prioritising fast playability and easy access to the upper frets. The N4 sat as a flagship expression of that series philosophy, carrying a reverse headstock as a distinguishing visual and functional element.
The body is swamp ash, finished in a natural matte. The maple neck carries an ebony fretboard at a 25.5" scale length, and the nut width and profile are not specified in the source material. Pickups are a Seymour Duncan '59 at the neck and a Bill Lawrence L-500 at the bridge, selected via a 3-way toggle. A single volume control rounds out the electronics. The bridge is a Floyd Rose 1000 Series Original, and tuning stability is further addressed by the integrated Buzz Feiten tuning system. Tuners are Grover Exclusive units, and all hardware is finished in chrome. The guitar shipped with a hard case.
Owners requiring setup work, Floyd Rose maintenance, or Buzz Feiten intonation calibration should consult a qualified guitar technician familiar with double-locking tremolo systems.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
