Washburn built the N4VINTAGE-D-U as part of the N Series, a signature line developed in collaboration with Nuno Bettencourt. Bettencourt, known primarily for his work with Extreme, worked with Washburn to design the series around a fast neck profile and the Stephen's Extended Cutaway, which provides unobstructed access to the upper frets. The N4VINTAGE-D-U is a double-cut solid body electric finished in a natural distressed, vintage matte look.
The body is alder, paired with a birdseye maple neck attached via a 5-bolt Stephen's Extended Cutaway joint. The ebony fretboard carries 22 frets with dot inlays and a 25-1/2" scale length. A 43 mm chrome locking nut anchors the string path, which runs to a Floyd Rose 1000 Series Original bridge and Grover Exclusive 18:1 chrome tuners. The reverse headstock is a defining visual trait of the N Series. Pickups are a Seymour Duncan 59 in the neck position and a Bill Lawrence unit in the bridge, controlled by a single volume knob and a 3-way toggle selector. Hardware throughout is chrome. The guitar is strung from the factory with D'Addario EXL120 light-gauge strings.
Owners requiring setup work, locking nut service, Floyd Rose maintenance, or parts sourcing for any of the hardware listed above should consult a qualified guitar technician familiar with double-locking tremolo systems.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
