Washburn built the M3SWETWRK-D-U as part of its Americana Series, positioning it as an all-solid, electro-acoustic F-style mandolin aimed at players who needed stage-ready amplification without sacrificing acoustic performance. The model was derived from the M3SWK F-style mandolin, distinguished by the addition of a pickup and active electronics alongside the Trans Wine Red gloss finish. A hardshell case was included.
The instrument was constructed with a solid carved European spruce top and solid carved Canadian maple back and sides, braced with quarter-sawn Sitka spruce. The maple neck carries a rosewood fretboard with 24 frets, snowflake inlays, and a 1-1/8" bone nut over a 13-3/4" scale. Hardware throughout is gold, including diecast tuners with pearloid buttons and an ebony bridge. Electronics consist of the MG2 preamp system with bass, treble, and volume controls. Strings were fitted from the factory with D'Addario J73 light-gauge mandolin strings.
Owners seeking bridge, nut, or tuner replacements should note the ebony bridge, bone nut, and gold diecast tuner specifications when sourcing compatible parts.
