Washburn built the M1SDLTBL-A-U as part of its Americana Series, positioning it as an A-style mandolin with an oval sound hole. Washburn had been producing mandolins since the late 1800s, and this model sat within a line intended to serve players across bluegrass, Celtic, and related styles.
The instrument features a solid carved European Spruce top paired with maple back and sides, braced with quarter-sawn Sitka Spruce. The maple neck carries 20 frets with dot inlays, an ABS nut at 1-1/8" width, and a scale length of 13-3/4". Hardware throughout is gold, including gold diecast tuners with pearloid buttons. The bridge is listed as an alternative style. The nut and rosette are ABS. Strings were fitted from the factory with D'Addario J73 light-gauge mandolin strings. The body is finished in a trans-blue gloss.
