Washburn positioned the HD10SCE-U within its Heritage 10/20/30/40 Series, a line built around traditional acoustic construction. The dreadnought cutaway body configuration gave the instrument its characteristic full-bodied projection alongside upper-fret access, finished in a Natural Gloss.
The top was constructed from solid Sitka spruce, paired with mahogany back and sides — a combination Washburn employed throughout the Heritage Series to balance clarity in the upper register with a warm low-mid response. The fingerboard was rosewood. The "SCE" designation in the model name indicates a cutaway body with electronics fitted from the factory.
