Schecter built the Randy Weitzel V-7 FR as a signature seven-string instrument within its artist series, positioned for extended-range players requiring a floating tremolo system. The guitar carried item number 335 and was produced in South Korea in a Satin White finish.
Construction centred on a mahogany body mated to a three-piece mahogany neck reinforced with carbon fibre rods, joined via a set-neck joint with Ultra Access heel contouring. The ebony fretboard ran a 26.5-inch (673 mm) baritone scale across 24 X-Jumbo frets at a 16-inch (406 mm) radius, with a Thin 'C' profile measuring .787 inches at the first fret and .866 inches at the twelfth. A Floyd Rose 1500 Series nut and bridge handled the floating tremolo duties, with the nut width sitting at 1.889 inches (48 mm). Grover Rotomatic 18:1 tuners locked the strings — Ernie Ball seven-string gauged .009 through .062 — at the headstock. Pickups were an EMG 707 at the bridge and an EMG 85-7 at the neck, routed through a Volume/Volume/Tone/3-Way Switch layout with metal knurled knobs; a 9-volt clip-in battery compartment served the active electronics. All hardware was finished in Distressed Chrome. The Mother of Pearl Snake Cross inlay appeared at the 12th fret. A 2-way adjustable truss rod with a 5/32-inch (4 mm) Allen nut was fitted. The SGR-8V case was sold separately.
