Description

Randall built the Thrasher as a two-channel, four-mode, 120-watt all-tube guitar amplifier head, engineered by Mike Fortin. It was positioned as a high-gain design intended to deliver a tight, focused performance from the tube circuit, with particular attention to tracking extended-range instruments and drop-tuned applications without sacrificing clarity or playability.

The amplifier ran six 12AX7 preamp tubes and four 6L6 power tubes, with Push/Pull Bias Controls accessible to the owner. Channel one carried dedicated LF Gain, HF Gain, and Boost controls; both channels shared Volume and Gain, Bass, Middle, and Treble. Global controls included Master Volume, Depth, and Presence. The rear panel provided five speaker jacks accommodating 4, 8, or 16 ohm loads, two line outputs, a tube series/parallel effects loop, one passive and one active guitar input, and two footswitch jacks. The included RF2-LED footswitch addressed channel switching and Boost mode. The chassis was fitted with heavy-duty metal front and rear grilles, corners, and edging. At 29.06 × 10.43 × 10.47 inches and 59.52 lbs, the unit was built for road use.

Owners sourcing replacement output or preamp tubes, footswitch accessories, or speaker cabinet connections should verify impedance compatibility against the 4/8/16 ohm output options and consult a qualified amplifier technician for bias-related service.

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
