Randall produced the EOD88-U as a tube guitar amplifier head, positioning it within their amplifier line as an 88-watt, three-channel unit built for high-gain applications. The head format made it a standalone unit requiring a separate speaker cabinet.
The EOD88-U was built around a tube-driven circuit offering three dedicated gain channels, giving the player distinct voiced stages rather than a single channel with a boost. A switchable FUZZ circuit added a further gain texture selectable independently of the main channel configuration. Output impedance was selectable across 16, 8, and 4 ohm minimum settings, accommodating a range of speaker cabinet loads. A two-button footswitch for Gain and Fuzz selection was included with the unit. The chassis measures 515 × 235 × 255 mm and the unit weighed 15.70 kg.
