Dunlop produced the JDF2-U Fuzz Face Distortion as a reproduction of the vintage Fuzz Face circuit, positioning it as a faithful recreation of the original Germanium PNP transistor-based design within their effects line.
The unit was built to vintage specifications and centres on a Germanium PNP transistor circuit, which Dunlop associated with the rich, creamy fuzz character of the original. Electrically, the pedal presents a 10 kΩ input impedance and an output impedance that varies with the volume control — 2 kΩ at maximum volume and 115 kΩ at mid volume — a behaviour inherent to the classic Fuzz Face topology. Maximum gain is rated at 45 dB. The bypass implementation is true hardwire. Power draw is 500 µA from a 9-volt DC supply.
