Description

Dunlop produced the FFM6-U Band of Gypsys Fuzz Face Mini Distortion as part of its Fuzz Face Mini series, positioning it as a compact recreation of the fuzz character associated with Jimi Hendrix's Band of Gypsys live performances. It occupied the signature/artist-inspired tier of the Fuzz Face Mini line, distinguishing itself from standard-issue variants by its specific voicing aimed at that aggressive, biting fuzz character.

The unit ran on a 9-volt DC power supply and drew 4.7 mA of current. An AC power jack was included alongside a battery door, allowing either supply method. A status LED indicated effect engagement. Effect switching used a true-hardwire-bypass (THWBY) configuration. The pedal was housed in the compact mini form factor common to the Fuzz Face Mini series. Input impedance was rated at 320 kΩ; output impedance at 1 kHz measured 11 kΩ at maximum volume and 64 kΩ at mid volume. Maximum output was +9 dBV, maximum gain at 1 kHz with both volume and fuzz at maximum was 60 dBV, and the A-weighted noise floor under the same conditions was 72 dBV.

Owners requiring service, pot replacement, or bypass switch work should consult a qualified guitar technician familiar with small-format effects units.

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

Owner notes

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
