Description
Dunlop produced the EVH90-U as a signature phase pedal in the MXR line, developed in collaboration with Eddie Van Halen. It occupied a position in the effects catalogue as a phaser unit tied directly to Van Halen's tonal identity, with cosmetic treatment drawn from his Frankenstein guitar.
The pedal offered two distinct phasing modes: a Script style and a Block style, reflecting different circuit voicings associated with different periods of the MXR Phase 90's history. Electrically, the unit operated on 9 volts DC with a current draw of 8.2 mA, an input impedance of 1 MΩ, an output impedance of 10 kΩ, and a signal-to-noise ratio exceeding 96 dB. Bypass was achieved via hardwire switching.
